When listening to severe weather in the Tulsa area, I listen to TG 2681 under “State Emergency Management” SEMA 3 - Dispatch
anyone else monitored this TG?
of course amateur radio is excellent as well.
In Oklahoma City, The Griffin Station, KWTV - Channel 9, has an up-to-date Radar system as well as a large contingency of weather trackers, including a Bell Helicopter, to be under every cloud in the state (and the Texas Panhandle) looking for possible wind, hail and tornadoes. That takes away the need for the HAM radio spotters and any other source of information.
I don't know if they do the same at "The News on 6" (where I worked in college). I know they have trackers but not sure about the radar and helicopter.
I will check the Emergency Management talk groups in Central Oklahoma and locate the TGID to post for others who have an interest.
Thanks for your information, I, and probably others, may have not considered using SEMA as source of real time information.
