I am not sure what an 'Explorer' event is but the city is always busy.
The only time I recommend staying away is when car shows are
in town. I lived in Pigeon Forge from 1981 to 1999 and hated the
town for not controlling the traffic situation better than they did. I
know it is nearly impossible to control that size of traffic, but the
mess that is associated with the car shows made me finally leave
the town. I moved about 25 miles east into Cocke county and have
loved it ever since. I still work over in Sevierville area, but living there
is out of the question any more.
Come on down and enjoy the area, it is a beautiful part of our country
and the place to spend all the hard earned cash.
Have fun and enjoy your trip, also watch out for the ducks crossing
the road. They have the right-of-way and you must yield to let them
cross. (This is a Gatlinburg city ordinance)
