I just got a second BCT15x and used FreeSCAN to clone the systems and settings on my original one. Everything works well, except the new one has significant (but short) squelch tails while the old one doesn't.

They both have "Motorola End Code" set to Analog, I also tried Analog and Digital and still get the squelch tails. Short tails, but noticeable.
When using the 2 scanners at the same time a few feet from each other, only the new one will have the squelch tones. Squelch knob set the same on both. Displays showing identical info.

I guess I'm missing a setting that FreeSCAN didn't copy?

(I also tried the same procedures to copy with ARC XT PRO, same result).

Am I missing something?

Addendum: I just did a wired clone of the 2 radios, and the new one still has the squelch tail issue. This makes me think it might be a hardware issue...

Yes, they're both 1.06.03
On the Firmware Info screen, the SUM= numbers are different, not sure what that is or if it matters.

OK, I semi-solved this. It seems only the speaker is airing the squelch tails.
The record out doesn't have them. Also, my other BCT996 doesn't have them in the speaker.
I can work around this by just using an external amplified speaker (which sounds better anyway)
