Thanks for those. Can you submit to the DB?

I'll get 'em! :)

Edit: DB updated. Also I've seen conflicting information that PS-TA 1 (SFFD-C16) may actually be 868.6625. sffire can you confirm?

Otherwise lets steer this thread back on topic regarding the impending rebanding of the SF TRS.

Rebanded Frequencies

These are the frequencies allocated to San Francisco under the Region 6 rebanding plan. I don't know which frequencies will go to CERS or which ones will go to PWRS, but this is all of them, including a number of secondary frequencies which will probably be used for conventional talkaround:

851.1250
851.1500
851.2500
851.4000
851.4250
851.5875
851.6125
851.7625
851.8125
852.0625
852.0875
852.2125
852.2625
852.3625
852.3875
852.6750
852.8375
852.8625
853.0875
853.2250
853.2500
853.4125
853.4375
853.6250
853.6500
853.7875
853.8125
853.8875
851.0500 – Secondary
851.9375 – Secondary
852.1750 – Secondary
852.3125 – Secondary
852.6500 – Secondary

you're right gary

I don't believe there is a narrow band mandate for 800, it's for VHF high and UHF only. Rebanding of 800 Mhz trunk systems refers to the deal made with Nextel (now Sprint) to swap frequencies to deal with Nextel repeaters causing interference with 800 Mhz public safety systems.

The mandate for 800 MHZ was to REband....not NARROWband. Although they are being somewhat narrowbanded to make some room, there is not mandate from the FCC, only to shift down 15MHz to make room for Nextel.

How does one of the cut overs work? The portable and mobile radios have been reprogrammed. Does that mean the portables and mobile radios are now operating on the new frequencies? I understand that the switchover will be later this month.

Both the pre- and post-rebanding trunked system control channels are programmed into the user radios (the actual voice channels in use are assigned from a table in the radio memory by the control data when a call is established).

When the frequency change happens, the control channel base stations are usually done first. The user radios find the new control channels operate as if nothing happened.

As the voice base stations are changed the system controller database is updated to reflect the new channel assignments in the controller's copy of the table.

Any conventional channels will most likely have both the new and the old channel programmed for a period of time.

Thank you for your reply.

On trunked systems, when it comes to the scanner, it will continue to operate with the old frequencies until the switchover? Once the switch is done, I will stop hearing anything from the old.

On the user radios, if they have been reprogramed, are they transmitting on the new frequencies?

On a newer scanner, once the new control channels have been programmed, yes.

On the user radios, if they have been reprogramed, are they transmitting on the new frequencies?

Yes; the user equipment transmitter tracks the same way as the receiver.

851.25
852.3625
852.8625
853.25
853.8125
856.2375
857.2375

I think the rebanding starts real soon

PWRS has rebanded with a data channel on 852.3625. Some traffic about Bay to Breakers cleanup. Talkgroups appear to be unchanged, though I don't monitor them regularly.

CERS continues as usual with a data channel on 866.9625.

re: SF Rebanding

Just about 20 mins ago, SFFD said, stand by for a change in the radios, if you don't hear anything in the next few minutes over the radios, then there may be a system wide failure. Does anyone know if SF CERS also rebanded today, my scanners have gone silent.

It suppose to happen today. I have one of my scanners with the rebanded frequencies and I hear traffic on that one. The one that has not been rebanded has been silent.
