Has there been any word when SF will reband their Trunk system? Seems like everyone else has done it already and SF is lagging behind...
It's been done for a while now. Everything is 15 MHz lower.
I don't believe there is a narrow band mandate for 800, it's for VHF high and UHF only. Rebanding of 800 Mhz trunk systems refers to the deal made with Nextel (now Sprint) to swap frequencies to deal with Nextel repeaters causing interference with 800 Mhz public safety systems.
How does one of the cut overs work? The portable and mobile radios have been reprogrammed. Does that mean the portables and mobile radios are now operating on the new frequencies? I understand that the switchover will be later this month.
Thank you for your reply.
On trunked systems, when it comes to the scanner, it will continue to operate with the old frequencies until the switchover? Once the switch is done, I will stop hearing anything from the old.
On the user radios, if they have been reprogramed, are they transmitting on the new frequencies?
