I've been meaning to get off my butt and build something like this. Great job all around. You're making me start thinking again. That usually means spending money. I better cozy up to the wife starting now... :p

Well... its time for the sad truth... the build-out of the back is in stall mode due to lack of funds. Still need an I/O panel to clean things up (need at lease 5 connection points to cover HF thru UHF,computer connections), an upgrade from a 4 port to 8 port multicoupler for the scanners and SDR . Already have a 2U blank panel that I could likely drill myself, but its the cost of the connectors and patch cables that are holding me back. Any way, here is current state of front and bare naked back! The 2U space in front is a pullout shelf.

Looks nice, however you may have been able to use a much shallower enclosure as none of your components appear to be very deep. You might be able to take the rear mounted rack ears and move them to the inside of the enclosure, then use a flat head screw on the rack rail so you can later put a big blank rack panel on the back for a cover.

I've know Bob who owns Novexcomm for probably 40yrs, he lives a couple of miles up the road from me although he purchased the Novexcomm company just a few years ago. You might also check with Middle Atlantic, they make all kinds of rack products and used to have various sizes of hinged rack panel doors that would look nice on the back and also ventilated rack panels, shelves, etc. Accessories | Middle Atlantic

Yep... know of Bob. Most of the panels on there I designed so to speak, and sent the specs to Bob for fabrication.

Also... the additional depth will allow me space for a battery power solution, as well as the associated equipment, to monitor and charge same.

Will heat be a factor?

Probably not. The radios put out very little heat. I have four in an open vertical rack close together and their room temperature. The power supply might put out a little but it shouldn't be too much.

Setup looks absolutely amazing! I am also in the process of putting together a "Cabinet". Just ordered from Novexcomm. How are you powering the scanners? All plugged into a power source?
