Recently did a complete remodel of the shack. The counter top and cabinets are from a bargain outlet store and the floor was also redone. I still have a few loose ends to take care of, but the radio equipment is all up and running. The solar panel/battery power backup is still being worked on.

The rig is an ICOM IC-746pro, AMP is an Ameritron AL-811, MFJ Versa tuner V is the antenna tuner. Yes that is a President Washington CB in the shack and no it is not connected to that AMP! The CB has no mods and I enjoy talking to a group of guys on Saturday nights with it. There are two power supply's in the shack , a Nippon America 30 amp, and a Astron 35 amp. There is a Kenwood TM 271a 2 meter rig and a Motorola GM300 UHF and I am looking to replace both with a Yaesu FT-8900 soon.

The scanner's are a Radio Shack PRO-197 and Uniden Bearcat 800xlt. The PRO-197 runs the online feed for the City of Jamestown NY police & fire.

The antenna's are a Hexx beam, Alpha Delta DX LB plus dipole, Eagle One vertical, six meter squalo, and a few other scanner antenna's and j-poles for UHF/VHF.

Thanks for looking and enjoy the hobby! 73/W2REA

Yes, that is a weather station nothing fancy. It shows the indoor and outdoor conditions. There is a remote sensor for outdoors that for some reason is not working at the moment.

The granite counter top is interesting. This is the first time I have seen one in a ham shack. I guess that you found it for a very good price. It should be easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth and you won't have to worry about condensation from cold drinks ruining a wood counter top.

I would guess it's a granite look alike. I don't see the support you would need for it in the corner.

Either way, looks nice. How does the height treat you with the kitchen style cabinets? I looked into the same thing when I installed countertop in my office however I found the cabinets to be to tall. I opted for a layer of thick plywood bellow with counter top brackets and legs.

I am a little tall and the chair sits up nice and high so the height of the counter top is not a problem. It is a look alike and not granite. I was worried about the corner when I was planning the setup with the weight of all the equipment. There are two boards going from the left cabinet to the wall and screwed into studs, It seems very sturdy so far.

Very nice setup in the shack. I see you've got Clint Eastwood guarding the gear. Good choice! Is that a D-104 Astatic connected to the CB?

Yes that is a D-104. My CB buddy from the 80's gave it to me when I got back into the hobby in 2010. I remember him using it back then in his bedroom and hearing his mom coming over the microphone on the other side of the house. I could actually hear her doing dishes. It is a nice one.

w2rea: You're so right about that mic being able to pick up noises in the distance. When I was in high school my folks had a Browning with the D-104 in the den - which was at the opposite end of the house where the kitchen was located.

One evening while talking with a couple of buddies, my Mom dropped a plate, and all the chatter stopped - they wanted to know what the explosion was. So, I agree with you about the sensitivity of that awesome mic. They are incredible!

Nice shack, thanks for sharing. I used to have a President like yours, great base radio had it hooked to a 4 element Maco beam.

Nice shack for sure! Is that an old telephone speaker on top of the 746? Those speakers work well and can be cranked up very loud if need be.
