Perhaps someone can help me with shared talk groups.
MA - Hamden Co. - WestComm Regional for Longmeadow and East Longmeadow.
The database has:
Departments are identified by units calling in.
East Longmeadow PD units are 4---,
Longmeadow PD units are 2---.,

Forgive my total lack of understanding, can someone explain to me about the “units”, numbers, so I can tell what town I’m listening to (something I can have in the display- PSR800 upgraded by Whistler)

Thanks in advance.

I'm all Uniden Radios here but The talk group is displayed then the Unit ID of the radio then It alternates back an forth during the conversation
to say it talk group 1234 tagged as ( BIG CITY PD ) and the Base is ID:1 and the Car is ID:3001.

Is that what your asking about ?

Pete,
That might be the answer. As you can see I listed the particular RR trunk system in Hamden county, MA, and showed the instructions for determining which town PD by the number formats of the “units” calling in. Your Base/Car ID’s might be what they’re talking about. I’ll have to check that out further as I’m not sure if that is what is displayed like you mention or spoken by the radio user.

One dispatcher handles both PDs so they have them on the same talkgroup. If they want ELPD, it would be a 400 unit. Longmeadow PD would be 200 units.
I am not familiar with the Whistler radios and the ability to enter in and display radio aliases, but first you will need to identify all the radios for each department. It might be Longmeadow using 8422xxx and East Longmeadow using 8423xxx radios but not at all sure.
When the system was first online, I did some listening but haven't in quite a while.

Pete & Chris,
Thanks for the help. Displaying radio ID‘s doesn’t seem to do the trick. After listening for a while I notice that the caller (police officer or fire officer) will by voice say their dept number (such as I have in my original post).
