Hi, I normaly use a 895xlt - but i picked up a pro-2053 at a nice price (under $100). I have a gre 3001 preamp which for my area really works well, can i just T-Split off the GRE preamp (that goes to the 30' mass'ed antenna) to both scanners? 99.9% of the time im sure ill be using one or the other.

The next question your going to ask is why would you keep both, why dont you just keep the 2053 and dump the 895XLT? I like the look and feel of he 895XLT.

Thanks alot
Joe

I would use a multi-coupler to isolate the scanners from each other. Get one use for TV applications, but you will need to get F to BNC adapters also.

If you already have a premap get a passive multicoupler. (also known as a splitter.

I'd pick up one of the real active multicouplers. You don't realize how much loss effects your performance until you start eliminating sources of it.

I'd NOT pick up one of the real active multicouplers. You don't realize how much NOISE effects your performance until you start UNDERSTANDING it.

If you mount the ampas close to the antenna as possible and only use it to make up for you'd lose in a possible splitter, it shoudn't cause any harm. I'd rather have a hair more noise on something than not receive it all because it isn't making it from the antenna to the radio. Now, sticking a 24dB cable TV booster right at the scanner is probably not going to help.
