I guess it helps with the internet bill huh? Or does it? Tell me your not providing free internet to the inlaws.

LOL

I think we have a push over here guys :)

IMO, if your in-laws are close enough to access your AP, they are FAR FAR too close to you... Minimum 1hr drive @ 110km/h separation. Anything less is too close.

So there is. A dilemma, ONE family with each others permission and agreement, understanding risks of shared internet access, separated thru the wall cannot share internet to save separate ISP connection costs, right? But if they remove the internal wall it is OK and legit. Where we draw moral line ? They use the same amount of data via one router or two routers. They do not charge each other for data, do not sell bandwidth or derive any income from shared connection. In my book its OK. They do not steal data from the neighbor (outlaws).
Anyway our friend didn't ask for the moral lecture, he ask how to secure his laptop and we now drifting away from the original question.

ps Just for curiosity I checked Terms and Conditions for my ISP and I cannot see anything related to this scenario !

Now fact of life in 2015 is: In my house on the network are: 3 x notebooks, 1 x Ipad, 3 x Iphones, 1 x Android smartfone, 1 x Skype TV camera, 1 x TiVo, 1 x Smart TV, 1 x Bluray, 1 x NAS Server and 1 x PC and 2 x network printers all sharing ISP one connection via Asus AC router. When visitors come they can connect via one of two Guest connections isolated from main home network.
Craiky, I cannot possibly be responsible for all this devices and their users, downloads, uploads, updates etc. it is enough work to keep them all connected especially when Chief Commanding Officer screaming that she can't print or something is not working or connecting ! Man I am in trouble then !

Have a good day

Chris
