Shelby County Sheriff EDACS

Was in Memphis late last week and could only receive the data channels for the Redwood and the North tower sites on the Shelby County SO EDACS system.

Also, the system was surprisingly quite. I only monitored TG 02-126 in a time period of 4 hours.

Which, if any, of the other sites are active?

I was only in the general area of the airport and southward toward Mississippi - just wondering what coverage is like on the north side of the county.

I was in The Memphis Area at Christmas on the North side and only picked up a couple of Ids For this system. And during that time they had a ice storm and it paralyzed the county. I heard very little if any for the So and program the frequencies from this web site and in order. But heard very little. The rebroadcast over the 800 fire channel and the Tn highway patrol as well as surrounding counties was the only thing i could pick up. Barlett trunked well on my 296D and conventional channels received well. Hopefully we will be able to monitor if the switch to p-25 is changed over for city PD and SO in the future.

I live in Cordova (E, NE Memphis) and I have the north tower programmed into my scanner and hear it fine. May have just been a slow day.

Shelby County EDACS

I live in the Memphis area and hear the SCSO all the time. I travel over most of the County, N, S, E, & W and can hear most broadcasts. Some days can be slow, though. I pick up all talkgroups. Most of it is dull and routine, but not all the time. Does anyone know if any of the talkgroups are ever encrypted? If they are, it seems to me that it is very rare.

I do know that in 2000, and 2001 SCSO used AEGIS on several TG's. I remember monitoring on trips on GreyHound from Jackson, MS, to Asheville, NC, before I moved to A'Ville. When I was up that way a couple of months ago however I did NOT notice a single AEGIS transmission. I believe they only would use it now for special ops and are pretty much getting ready to transition over to the new Memphis/Shelby ASTRO system when the thing fully is built out and online.

Shelby County EDACS

Due to some dead spots, are using a patch to MLG&W to correct this, may explain lack of traffic heard. I have no problem trunking SCSO from Millington area while working at Naval facility.

I don't know if scso is using a patch. I know that the MPD n/e precinct was but I don't know if they still are sense the MLGW just went to the apco system.
