I often hear Sheppard controllers and mil aircraft make reference to "Tender" and "Cooter". I know that the callsign Tender is used on frq 338.900 and Cooter 283.700. My question is what do these call signs mean?

Also does anyone have a channel lineup for Sheppard aircraft? I hear the controller and aircraft make reference to a certain channel but have difficulty finding all of them. I have a few of the channels figured out I think. Was just hoping someone in the area had a list of the channels. I am more than willing to share the info that I have with others that may have an incomplete list in order to get a complete list compiled. I would like to confirm what I have and also add anything new that someone else has. I would like to update the database for Sheppard to include the correct channel numbers for the frequencies.

I use a pro 106 and pro 197 to monitor the Wichita Falls, Texas area.

They probably refer to training squadrons.

There is probably no way to obtain the preset channel list exept by extensive monitoring or unless you have acess to aircraft and can write down or take a picture of what is on the cards.

Everything I have found at Sheppard I submitted to the database.
I don't get up to Wichita Falls that often so I'm sure there is more stuff that I never found and stuff that has changed.

I guess that is possible. A lot of different aircraft callsigns are heard on those two frequencies. Thanks for the reply.

This is what I have noted so far. I can confirm some of it, but not all. Anyone with information to add would be appreciated. I am not updating the RR database as of yet until I can make for sure it is correct. So maybe in the near future I can update it. Maybe someone else can make use of the info provided at this time.

You will notice there are two chnl 7 and two chnl 13. That is because I have heard aircraft refer to both as those channels.

I guess its possible that different squadron/wings/etc. have different presets.
Thanks for posting that list. I'll see if I can recognize or ID anything.

I think I figured out the Tender and Cooter call signs. Tender and Cooter are controller call signs and control specific runways at Sheppard. Tender controls 15 R / 33 L, T-38s and Cooter controls runway 15 L / 33 R, T-6s.

I am not an Air Force nor MIL-AIR monitor, but from living in W F and near SAFB all my life, The T-38 (jets) use one flight path and runway and the (tweets) T-6 uses the northern flight path and runway. (Just my obsevation)... now one of you tell me why I get the WFFD tone out on my HP but not the dispatch voice ?

Voice transmissions are normally ProVoice digital mode. Scanners ignore all ProVoice transmissions. The fire station icall tones and "klaxon" alert tones are sent in analog mode. I don't know the reason why. Occasionally you will hear the fire dispatcher in analog mode for some reason. Last fall right after I moved back here fire dispatch stayed in analog for a few weeks. WFPD is almost the same way. Everything is encrypted ProVoice digital except the alert tone.
