Ops are ongoing on MAC-3 currently. Sounds like they are prepping the water barrels to surround the chemical one. At least two entry teams have been assembled.

Said the evacuation would begin at 5am and showed a map of the appox 5 block area on the news last night.

SHERIDAN - Authorities successfully detonated a 55-gallon drum full of chemicals Friday morning.

The drum was found Thursday during an inventory and data collection of Almost Anything Stored on 3835 S. Santa Fe Drive.

The fire department and the Arapahoe County Hazardous Materials team tested the chemicals and determined they were very unstable, according to Sheridan Police.

Chemists from the Colorado Health Department also said the chemicals were unstable and authorities should dispose of them. The chemicals were a petroleum based mix of hydrogen peroxide.

The Arapahoe County Bomb Squad was contacted and helped determine that the drum should not be moved.

Crews destroyed the drum with an explosive blast at 6:02 a.m. Friday. Crews sprayed the area down and the drum was surrounded by barrels full of water. The bomb squad said the blast would burn off all the explosive parts of the chemicals.

Because of the blast, nearby roads and light rail were closed for a short time Friday morning. However, all roads have since been reopened.

Sheridan Blast

I found it interesting that Sheridan forced evacuations from Santa Fe WEST to Federal. However, the Englewood didn't even have an evacuation from the EAST side of the road AT ALL? Not to mention closing Santa Fe itself and the light rail. The north boundry was Hampden, and Oxford to the south.

At least that's the map all the news channels had.

I wonder......
