I'm interested in remote mounting the control head.

Is there a mounting bracket for the control head? Anyone have pics of it installed in their vehicle? How are you mounting it?

Anyone have dimensions or more pics of the front/back/sides of the head?

Thanks!

There's no mounting bracket for the remote head. The head has a couple of pretty strong 15mm dia. magnets on the rear. If you want to use a bracket, you'd have to fabricate something out of steel, then "stick" the head to that.

The head measures approx. 158mm (W) x 44mm (H) x 31mm (D). The depth doesn't include the buttons or knob (add 13mm for the knob).

My above was based on my pre-production beta package, which did not include a bracket for the remote head.

Production (retail) units do include such a bracket. Rough description: a 2" x 2" plate with 4 screw holes, with a 3" wide front plate with detents for locating the magnets.

Don, just to confirm for all. The IF output to rear speaker or front headphone jack is nonfunctional correct? I already know the PC/IF through the front (and only) port is working.

... the remote head is so small and light I mounted it on the steering column behind the wheel with mounting tape... the cable is flat and conceals well below the dash with a little gorilla tape... radio is tucked away sideways behind the external speaker in the center console... I have easy access to the SD card... total installation took about 10 minuets... P-1 and P-2 crisp and clear not muffled like my POC x36's... Bob...

IF Out (discriminator audio):

When the scanner was first designed, IF Out was a desired feature, and it was going to be ported over from the PSR-800. However, because the audio paths are different in the PSR-900 and GRE couldn't get the speaker IF Out to work, they removed the feature.

Whistler resurrected the PSR-900 design, and after months of hardware and software changes, created the WS1095. Renewed interest in the IF Out function from RR caused Whistler to take another look and determined that it could be made to work through the headphone jack but not the EXT speaker.

Unfortunately, the first production run was already complete and shipped from the factory.

The first production run has date code (sticker on the back of the unit) 04A15. This run does not have IF Out
Subsequent production runs (date code 05A15 or later) does have IF Out circuitry and only required a CPU update to make functional.

If you have a unit with date code 04A15 and want the IF Out feature, the recommendation is to contact customer service at 1-866-923-8719 and you will be directed to a repair center that can update your unit.

Not difficult. Via 5he menu, pull up the scanlists and checkmark (activate) or uncheck (deactivate) the list you want. Scroll up or down through the list and make your selections.

Having said thst, would not recommend to anyone that you do it while driving. Same for selecting quick keys on a Uniden, it requires the same kinds of distraction from driving that texting does.

DonS in another thread advised you can move CDAT folders from one radio app to the other in the family and delete the GLB global file which contains default settings for specific radios (your radio self generates for your own radio or keeps defaults that are sets. In other words you can copy scans etc and scanlists from one radio to another.

The family includes psr800, pro668, ws1080 and wa1095, with all basically the same system.

Where is the date code located on the radio, and is in on the box also ?

The point of the question was so when I
Order the radio i can ask the dealer to check
The date code of the radio and possibly the box.

Your snide answer is not helpful !

Man, getting a straight answer is frustrating.

so again, my question is this:

Are there separate headphone and speaker jacks (like on a 996T) or is there one combined jack?

Sorry Scott, I was an early adopter and sent my radio to Whistler so I can get the IF output and use DSD+ with the radio. I'd send you a picture of the front and back of the radio, but I'll guess you already got the picture. [emoji3]

Now THAT is some great customer service!

You see...Don does stuff like that. When you look at all the custom options GRE, and now Whistler, gives you in these radios, you can see a level of customization that no one else delivers. That message made my day. I'm down for a WS1095!

Now if only they could add a column in EZscan for NAC in the Audio Index page, I would be SUPER STOKED. Oh please, Don, add that column. I log 24x7 on my WS1080 for UID numbers, but it would save me from using another scanner just to log NAC (or PL/DPL...and log with a dedicated computer). I'm a searcher (scan all G band frequencies), so all that info in one place with built-in recording is what I need. A TG column would also be a plus. And if I could select an option to stop on P25 data bursts when I want to (like the PSR600 does), that would be everything I need to locate and identify all G band activity with full built-in logging...The total solution! I'd buy a few of these things. :)
