Would you want to expose yourself at an attempt to "return fire"? Those of us who live out in the country (and have some common sense and maybe some prior LE experience) have come to the realization that law enforcement does not exist in our area outside of the random patrol. I see a county deputy maybe about once per week drive down my road, that's about it. They are short staffed and I know that. The few times I've had problems out there, thankfully I spoke with a deputy who knew me and he said something along the lines of "Hey, you know what to do, just handle it. If you get in a real jam or something, call us back but, it'll be 20-30 min before we can get there, as always."
I do however posses the capability to "return fire" though if the situation warranted that kind of response. I've got a funny feeling that you don't though Greg.

It's better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it. But....it's just a feeling I gathered from your post. I could very well be wrong.
