Short Skip this morning??

The scanner was going nuts this morning, picking up tons of stuff.

I was getting fire dept. testing going on at the Gary IN airport on my local old dispatch channel. (154.1900)

And listening to a taxi cab dispatcher giving pick ups to his guys in the loop of Chicago, coming though loud and clear on the Illinois I-WARN freq.

Both of these places are at least 120 miles from my house.
Not bad for a 246T hooked up to a scanntenna. :lol:

I figured it was to close to be considered "skip", I guess the conditions must be perfect this morning.

Yeah, I was picking up skip on the local 800 trs system here in Springfield. Not sure where it was coming from but I was picking up a weak control channel from somewhere. All I was using was the indoor duck on the back of the scanner. It was causing all sorts of problems. I finally had to turn the squelch all the way closed to stop it. Also, alot of long distance skip on vhf and civilian aircraft freq's as well.
