Shots Fired Channel??????

Back about 13yrs ago while visiting SOCAL(Northridge) I remember listening to a channel that just listed shots fired calls. Is there still such a thing? What is this considered? (This was before they had trunked systems)

LAPD has a 'HOT SHOTS' channel they call it. All priority dispatched calls go over this channel as well as the stations normal channel. Its for the K9/SWAT and supervisors. Its broadcast on 484.7125 in P25 and on 154.8300 analog Vhf.

And LAPD isnt trunked, just digital. And furthermore, the digitial 484.7125 has more calls than 154.830 for some reason.

A lot of old time scanner listeners and retirees complained when 154.830 was shut off at first.

Interestingly, that freq was just used for a code-3 call to a location about 2 blocks from me. Given the particular location, I'd put my money on someone getting T-boned at the intersection. Should be hearing the sirens any minute.

Speaking of Air Hail, does anyone have freqs for the LAPD's choppers? I don't find them referenced in the RR database. Thx.
