Thanks for your reply..I have an older scanner BCD996t,ID SCAN sounds good.Do I even have it?Yes. I pick up the SRRCS all the way to Orland (and perhaps beyond) when mobile. You should program site 012. I'd try ID SCAN until you hear conversations and then go from there to program desired TGs (and switch to ID Search).
I'm trying to use Freescan and a YouTubeWhat is your squelch setting? Discones are not the best antennas for 800 MHz. With the antenna up high, 17 miles may not be too much of a reach. Simulcast distortion is usually less of an issue when you are some distance away rather than surrounded by towers. What programming software are you using? If you attach your programming file, I will check it for errors. You will need to zip the file to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and open the zipped file.
It you attach your FreeSCAN file, I can take a look at it and find what the problem is.I'm trying to use Freescan and a YouTube
Video.I'm close to chucking the scanner out the window.
Not sure if I did that right, sure appreciate the help.I'm trying to use Freescan and a YouTube

I'll figure out the file to send, straight out of Radio Ref tomorrow.I do know I only downloaded the control channels.
Appreciate your help
Nice of you..I am taking your advice and reading abit first.you really want the radio to be scrolling ID SEARCH.
that means you will catch anything on the system
id scan is to scan only the talkgroups you have selected.
and squelch should be at 2.
easy to read manual
hard to read manual
also some systems have their antennas pointed down into the area of coverage.
it helps to reuse the frequency/s closer.
so it might just be impossible to receive them at all.
and if your coax has been in the weather for more than five years, it might be time to replace it.
I saved one more zip file....thx againNot sure if I did that right, sure appreciate the help.

I55.055 is a VHF conventional frequency for Woodland PD. Do you receive any of the talkgroups for Yolo County on the trunked system? The Davis site is simulcast. If you see NFM and not the control channel frequency for the site, try disconnecting the outside antenna and use the back of scanner antenna. You can also try turning on the attenuator. When dealing with simulcast sites, less signal is better.155.000 would that be VHF?
