Should I buy PRO-83 or PRO-94???

My friend have a used PRO-94 for sale $75 or the Black friday sale
PRO-83 for $59.99+Tax? I just brought the PRO-83 two days ago to play with it.....the RS store manager told me to rebuy the PRO-83 on friday to get @ that price.....Right-now thinking choosing them two models.
I notice that PRO-83 can't pick-up weak signal or signal, compare mine very old Uniden BC60XTL 10-Band which it can, having both scanners ON.
so guys~ PRO-83 or PRO-94???

I guess this all depends on if you need a trunking radio or not. The PRO94 trunks and the PRO83 dont trunk.

The Pro-94 was one of my least favorite scanners. It has a lot of nice features (lots of memory), but the RF performance was very strange. It would overload very easily. If I put on any antenna but the stock antenna, it would get overloaded. If you don't need a trunk tracker, I'd get the 83. If you do need a trunk tracker, I'd find a used BC245XLT.

I think i needs Trunking......bcause I cant hear Oakland PD & San Francisco PD.....is BC245XLT better than Pro-94?

I'm not sure what type of system you want to monitor. I have had a Pro94 since they came out, and it is a GOOD scanner. As the other posted noted, it has some problems (they all do), but it REALLY depends on your area, and the amount of $$$ you want to spend. I personally would never buy anything used. The Pro83 is almost "toy like". I will buy one Friday for $60, just as a "toy" to take to events to use the freq reader, and for the few conventional fire depts in my area. The ?246 that just came out looks like an awesome unit, if you don't need DIGITAL. One thing is 100%; you found the best website to explore this hobby. If you enjoy it, toss a few $$ to the webmaster (not me).

Sounds like to me you need to expand to add the pro 95. The 94 sucks and does not have alpha numeric display.

Umm he needs a digital capable if hes monitoring San Fran/Oakland Cali... You will need a PRO-96, a BC 296D, or BC 796D.

Will every 1 likes the PRO-96,,,,but too rich for my blood.
i guess i'll setting with the PRO-83 for now. unless i find a
PRO-96 in the local fleamaket.

You can get some of it in analog on the 94 or 95,.. but there are some digital TG's on there, and Marin County is all digital.
