I just sold one of my SDS200s to a member here, and I am wondering if I should go to My Uniden and delete it from my list? It is still under warranty, so I wonder if the new owner can, in fact, re-register it in his name after I remove it, and will Uniden extend the remaining warranty to the new owner?

JD, you need to take the radio off of your account as that is the only way the new owner will be able to register it on their account in case they want to buy a new key that they don't already have.

If you sold it with keys they go with the radio not the person so they belong to the new owner and to only that radio. If you want you can send them an email with the key numbers even though they probably should never need them as they can't be removed from that radio.

I agree with the above I do not believe the warranty itself transfers to the new owner.

Lucky guy who got one of your scanners without the hum LOL!

Not true per what UPMan said when the SDS100 came out and the free upgraded Battery that it would go by the last registered owner and they would get the battery. I have registered 996p2 536's to add NXDN after DMR had been added by the original owner with no problem.

What's not true?

You may have misunderstood my post Budd, if JD sold the radio with DMR then the DMR goes with the radio and the new owner will be able to use it.

If the new owner decides they want nxdn then they would have to have the radio registered in their name to purchase it as the last or latest owner. For the new owner to be registered the old owner has to remove the radio from their list.

Another example would be if you bought a radio from a vendor with nxdn installed by the vendor they would have had to register the radio in their name to buy the key. Once they send the radio to you if you want to add DMR, they would have to remove their name from their list so that you could add your name to your list to purchase the new key. That's what I meant.

Aha! Are you saying that the previous owner does not have to delete the radio from their list and that the new owner is able to add it to their list even though it's already registered to someone else at the same time? The priority as the newest owner would be the last one who registered the radio? So the site will allow you to register a radio even though it's registered to someone else first, the last one to register it always takes priority as the most recent owner? Is that what you were saying? If that's true, I'm bad... LOL.

That is the way I understood what he said. I have registered some 996p2's and 536's that I know have been registered before. Yes but if you delete the scanner the new owner may have to jump through hoops to get the key back. If the main board is replaced like in the 436's you have to reenter keys and the only sure way to get them is to talk to the original owner.

I registered the scanner the day I got it without issues and even purchased a DMR key. I don’t know if @TailGator911 had removed it yet or not.

I’d remove it solely to keep the list trimmed to scanners you own, in case of theft or loss.

Thanks for the verification Budd, well there you go JD apparently the new owner was able to register the radio even though it was still on your list. It makes sense to remove it just to keep an accurate track of what you really do own but I would definitely make sure you send an email to beldvr with any key numbers. If he has the board replaced he would need to re-enter the keys.

Beldvr, congratulations on your new radio!

You don't have to unregister the radio. I had no trouble registering a partly-upgraded SDS200 under my account.

Having sold my fully up-graded 436 and 536 I kept them on My Uniden List for about 6 months for the benefit of the new owners in case they lost the hardcopy of the keys which was sent with the radios. Typically they would not need the keys unless in extraordinary circumstance and My Uniden List was a short term fall back position.
