Has there been any discussion of adding a column/field in the database to show the activity level of each entry? It could have multiple values such as:
0-9
high-med-low-occasional-rare
constantly-hourly-weekly-monthly-special events

That could help choosing talkgroups for the data/space limited scanners and decrease scan time by eliminating seldom used conventional frequencies.

That would be enormous task and we would have to have personal knowledge of everything happening everywhere.
Thing is there could be a channel that is set for rarely used... say a SWAT channel only comes up when there is someone barricaded with gun that of course rarely happens for example. But if it was shown as rarely used people wouldn't program it in. But when it became active in the rare times you really would want it!

This where if the database admins can use the depreciated tag to flag items that are being replaced say, a VHF frequency for a PD dept. that went to digital p25. They use the p25 system mainly but doesn't mean they didn't get rid of completely their old VHF radios.

That is a good portion of the hobby and honestly my favorite. When a new frequency/agency is discovered or a new talk group is unveiled, or when you hear activity on a seldom used channel, it really perks up your ears.

Don't worry so much about what is and is not used often. Happy listening.
