I wonder if the SHP has a motor boat unit off the coast, thats probably what it is since i didnt think it would be any of the air units and none of the Troop letters go all the way to V

I want to say they are License and Theft but do not qoute me on that.

L&T has 4 character call signs (1V59).. There was something on L&T over on VIPER side.

Yes I am alive :) Just finished an intense school and than went to NYC for a week. Now gotta go back to work Monday

Cheers

heard 1V22 and 1V58 on today and they were definately NOT the same callsign types as the V-137 i heard.....

thanks again, all....

...and those are not the same agency. V1xx are Viper Techs. 1V is DMV L&T I believe.

V1 Callsigns

Indeed NCDMV L&T use some iteration of V in their call numbers. DMV HQ are VX1 = Director, VX2 = Deputy Director, etc. My father in law, now deceased, was VX11 for years. DMW L&T District Inspectors are XVXX...so District 1, Supervisor is 1V11. Prior to DMV size and weight and federal motor carrier officers becoming Troopers, they were District, W or M and call, ex: 3W43 or 3M31, etc. The current V number scheme with VIPER is just like a Patrol "District" where a First Sergeant commands a district....ie: C111 for Troop C, District 1, C122 is a Line Sergeant, C130 is first Trooper in one county of a two county district and C140 would typically be the first Trooper in the second county...not always the case but for the most part it is.....as for V1, V11X, V12X, V13X, V14X, etc...where X varies on who it is within the VIPER group.

Mike, trying to remember your father-in-law, what did he do at HQ? V used to be process officers, W used to be inspectors, M used to be Motor Carrier Officers and I can't remember the Weigh Station Officers. I was 1581, then WC44 and was 3W44 when I retired.
