I'm fairly new with scanners i just bought a radio shack pro-106 and can't seem to be able to get a good signal with it should I buy a new antenna or could i be programming frequencies wrong.

Could be, maybe, not enough information. What are you trying to listen to, how far away are you? Could be any number of things, building materials, foliage, mountains. Indoor antenna? Outdoor antenna?
I have both the rubber and the window mount I'm 5 mins north of detroit if that and can't pick them up and get a very weak signal from the surrounding citys if anything
