I think that it seems like your less than ideal setup is a hindrance. As applicable, things such as a bunch of extra coax coiled up on the floor are setting you up to be hindered by any condition not conducive to effective radio operation. Until the known shortcomings are addressed, it will still be a less than ideal setup. This is just my opinion.
