I ran Unitrunker for many years prior to my local system converting to P25 phase I and II. I am looking to just watch control channel traffic and affiliations, I don't care about audio. I have been running SDR-Trunk, while its great for audio, its not so great for logging ID's. What is similar to Unitrunker that will decode phase I and II?

Personally, I use DSDPlus Fast Lane. It's worth the $25 lifetime.

And so why not continue to run Unitrunker on the new P25 system?

Hahahahahahhahhaahahah.
Anyways, it will not work for me. It must be a setting, but it adds numbers to the TG’s and will not import the TG names from RR.
Not sure by what you mean by "it," but Unitrunker will download TG names from RR.

Its my understanding Unitrunker won’t decode phase II
A large majority of phase2 p25 systems use FDMA (phase1) control channels. There are very few exceptions. Unitrunker handles these phase2 systems which use phase2 voice channels with phase1 control channels.

“it”’as in the subject matter, which is Unitrunker. Unitrunker will not download the TG names as it adds a 1 or 0 to the downloaded TG numbers, which then will not correspond with RR.
What system specifically? Sounds like an RRDB entry or operator issue as this is not common problem.

Correct, it’s an FMDA system that mainly transmits in phase I. I have never been able to get it to work with this FDMA system since the upgrade as it downloads the system incorrectly

South Dakota State System. I used Unitrunker on the previous system for 10 years without issue, once the new system popped up in RR it will not bring in any TG info as it adds a 1 or 0 to the imported info, which lead me to believe Unitrunker would not decode Phase I or II, which I see now is incorrect

As already stated, Unitrunker will decode FDMA control channels, which 99% of TDMA systems use. And just so that you're clear on the terminology, as one of your previous posts had you sounding a bit confused: FDMA = P25 Phase I, TDMA = P25 Phase II. The South Dakota system appears to be TDMA capable, however thus far all of the talkgroups are flagged as FDMA in the database.

Make sure you have the system setup as APCOP25 in Unitrunker, not Motorola. It sounds as if you never changed the system type when they stopped using the SmartZone system, which would cause the software to not properly decode the control channel. The new system is a true P25 system, the old system used P25 modulation for voice traffic, but was not a true P25 system.

Good information, I will do some checking of settings

Hi, Rlahey

What version of Unitrunker are you using? I do recall that some users of Unitrunker experienced some problems with the downloading of some the P25 systems from the RR data base. It is my understanding that they had to download those P25 systems several times to get things right.
I think that this problem got a 'fix' at some point.

The current version of Unitrunker is 2.2.0.23. You can join the Google group to get that version and some help with your problem.
Link: About

The latest version of Unitrunker has many upgrades for decoding the new P25-P2 control channel messages along with some messages sent on the voice channels. The program still does not decode any P25-P2 unencrypted voice traffic.

Cheers.

PS, this looks cool: APCO P25 Phase 2 Digital Radio Decoder (WR-DRD-172) - Only works with G315 and G39 - Aventas

Keep in mind 2.2.0.23 is a preview. The preview however has no issues downloading the tg's in question when set up as P25.

LMAO with that price you can get 8 SDR dongles and use a bunch of free software to listen to much more

Note: An APCO trunking option is under development
