I caught a few Data Bursts from the new system, so apparently the initial testing has begun.....

The ducting conditions were not optimal, so I caught them for a short time on my PRO-83...... Will most likely be making a trip or two up that way as I have to go to Jackson for some training seminars with CN/IC.....

And on the Rail side of things.... I have utmost respect for the techs, and engineers that install the mobiles in the locos.... And those directional ants are interesting to say the least.

Well I found out what I had been hearing was basic playing with the mobiles and such in shop. I can't wait for the repeater site to go fully online and put through its paces. Will have to make a few trips up through the area to snag ID's,.. and to see if the new conventional system comming online for that Fire/Rescue department sounds good.

You should not have to snag any new ID's since the new tower is an extension of the existing system....On another note, 800mhz mobile terminals are planned for the cars so that might cut down on some of the voice traffic. The actual cut over date for the new building is going to be driven by when the phone co. can cut over the lines for the 911 console... As of Thursday the hard line had not been run inside and all the antennas had not been errected but since we had good weather Friday that may have been completed by now.

There will be NEW ID's since this is not just an addition to the SO system.. ALL the VFD's, the EMA, and city FD's are going to be on this system per three folks who are on the FD's/EMA there. They are still negotiating with Emergystat on whether to add them on , or let them say on thier freq (the old Mobile Medic-AMR one) This system is supposed to fully be up by the end of April. They ran into weather/scheduling delays but are now getting back on track. All VFD's, EMA. and town FD are running HT1250LS series Motorola's and are getting them programmed for LTR and the conventional. Tone outs will still be done on the conventional chans but main ops/firegrounds are going to be on the TRS. SO will have usage of both systems. If things work out.. this system will eventually merge with the other one to form a single three site LTR system with EVERYONE on it.

The list of users is as follows for full emplementation:
SCSO, SCEMA, M'Hall PD/FD, Magee PD/FD, BFR, PVFD, SCGH, MGH.
Possibly Emergystat, Possibly the DPWs.
Patches for MHP etc....

Well Mendenhall pd, magee pd are already on the system and of course SCSO. and they should keep the same ID's also DPW are already on the system, EMA is already on the system and the road crews were added about 6 months ago as well as the SC School system yes most of the VFD already have the new radios and we may set up TG's for them on a common channel, but Braxton has applied for their own repeater, so who knows what they will do!!! but for the most part the Id's should stay the same.
There are some unpublished TG already in the system for the SO but they are not used very much.

The only TG for the VFD's as for as I know will be a county wide fire that would only be used in case of mutal aid calls, the EMA uses the SO TG, Im not sure what Mendenhall Fire is going to do yet. As you may know, at this stage of a project politics sometimes gets involved so some things are still up in the air and subject to change!

Nothing that I can think of but some of the enhancements include an mobile command post completley equiped with all comm gear as well as complete cross patch to all agencies via a ACU 1000 and a direct link from dispatch to the Rankin County system county common TG and of course that will give us comm with almost all agencies in Rankin and Hinds counties.
The hope is that some day all 3 cells can be connected via a T1 line and form a true county wide trunking system.

new e-911

I've been reading the forum on Simpson's new e-911 system. I see it is getting very close to being finished. Will the freq. s be the same for each department or will they be changing to the 800's?
I thought i was the only one from simpson county that used this site.
Man was i wrong.

Tones? what kind of tones are you talking about? If you mean pl tones, the answer is none, LTR trunking does not use them
