Were you believed to be providing information to others on what you heard, thus they could accuse you of interfering with law enforcement.

Typically, it is not the scanner that raises concern but the actions of the scanner user.

The reason we ask these questions is because it's highly unlikely that the police just walked in your residence and took your radios (although I guess it's possible), so we probably aren't getting the whole story.

Scanners can and will be taken if they believe or know if the scanners are being used in the committing of a crime. You can always challenge them in court.
