When they are available on ebay for $5 to $20.00, trying to get the ceramic disk, plate it, amplify the signal, attach it to coax, terminate it with an MCX connector, mount it all in a weather proof enclosure and listen seems to be more trouble than it is worth.
I picked up a couple of mag-mounts at a swap-fest for less than $10.00 that work great.

I know they're cheap. I just like to experiment with antennas. I'm just seeing if anyone has successfully made an antenna for their Sirius radio. What I'm looking at trying is a wifi type yagi with a preamp, pretty close in frequency.
