Incidentally, Site 2.32 (Portable site) is in Shepherdstown (Jefferson Co) right now and has been for months. I saw notes in SIRN minutes stating that SIRN needs to think about getting a second portable site.

At any rate, with the portable site 2.32 in Shepherdstown, radio users in that area are reporting significant radio performance improvements off of the short tower -- providing additional coverage. The Shepherdstown radio users seem to like that. There are discussions in SIRN minutes about it likely being easy to locate freqs for a Shepherdstown site due to it not being required to be at a high elevation.

Don't know if 2.32 is going to stay there for a long period of time/indefinitely. But it sounds like somebody is probably going to end moving forward with a small tower in that area and a SIRN site to provide better coverage. Of course, I could be wrong.

They need another small tower south of Shepherdstown to cover Bardane, Bolivar, Harpers Ferry areas. Reception/transmissions from Rt340 across the rivers, and up into Bardane is sometimes non-existent considering line of site from that area to the Kearneysville site's tower up on the mountain is pretty much blocked by mountain down to the river.

TGID 7407: Unknown (Law Dispatch, possibly Pleasants County Sheriff's Office? Sounded like Pleasants County, but a unit marked out at *** Oak Grove Road for a VIN verification, and the only places I see that address on Google Maps is in Williamstown and also one in Walker, but those are both in Wood County. They were addressing the dispatcher as Comm Center, same as Pleasants County, but Wood County calls them Central, and that's why I don't think it's Wood County. Received on Parkersburg tower.)

I'd like to figure out where the Mathias/Lost City (Hardy) site is located
Is it up and running or just proposed? Here's what I can see for sites adjacent to Wardensville--which should be able to receive a site running in Mathias/Lost City.

In the process of being built out. I can't identify an FCC antenna registration that would make sense in the area, and although SIRN minutes have mentioned Mathias/Lost City a bit over the past year they didn't give any definitive info in the SIRN minutes. Originally they were looking at a site in Mathias, and then they changed to Lost City. They randomly refer to it as Mathis / Lost City, but I believe it's a location in / closer to Lost City than Mathias.

My summary, based upon reading SIRN minutes:

Code:
Mathias/Lost City (Hardy) Jan 22 tower fund grant approved
Mathias/Lost City (Hardy) Mar 22 Hardy Co changed site to Lost City ; tower grant approved ; working on 180-ft tower
Mathias/Lost City (Hardy) Apr 22 tower approved - 180-ft ; county to provide SIRN and microwave ; working on freqs
Mathias/Lost City (Hardy) Jul 22 work under way for getting frequencies
Mathias/Lost City (Hardy) Sep 22 working on road construction and tower pad
Mathias/Lost City (Hardy) Oct 22 County has 3 freqs, looking to get three from Lauttamus. Turns out they have NO viable freqs
Mathias/Lost City (Hardy) Feb 23 working with electric co. Steel ordered. Reviewing buildings.
Mathias/Lost City (Hardy) Mar 23 working on electric ; steel ordered ; reviewing shelters ; concerned about freqs

I found an Oak Grove Road in Pleasants County. At least most of it is inside Pleasants. It's south of Willow Island and east of Waverly. Oak Grove Rd · West Virginia

Thanks for that info, Mike-
Will make some inquiries with my 911 Center buddies, and maybe take a short ride down there--there's not many places it could be.

Thank you, Mark. There was no update on Lost City in the April/May 2023 SIRN minutes, at least I don't remember there being. But if the steel is ordered, I'd say it's a good bet that they have already solidified a site. I just don't see any new FCC antenna registration in the Lost City WV area, and certainly they will have to file one for a brand new tower 180 ft tall. I think they have to file an antenna registration for anything over 100 ft.

If I see anything new in upcoming minutes I'll post it.

There are a handful of other sites being built out for SIRN in WV right now as well.

From time to time I've noted TG 1174 active on Berkeley County site 1.7. Last week it was in use on both 6/7 and 6/8 and I finally had time to listen to the recordings today. 2 units involved with people gathering litter along a road with a lot of transmissions dealing with vehicle traffic such as "2 coming your way, last one is a Tundra" kind of thing. An interesting detail is that the 2 radio ids in use those 2 days are usually on TG 1106 which is the Berkeley County Sheriffs staff at the counties Judicial Center, in fact they were active on 1106 today. I'm thinking maybe 1174 is used for work programs involving people sentenced to community service or something like that.

Great find. Now I can finally keep tabs on my Berkeley Co. relatives!

On a more serious note--that was a nice piece of traffic analysis, noting the RIDs as Judicial Center Staff, then using the audio recordings to ID the activity. Do you just have a dedicated scanner in search / record mode, or are you using something more sophisticated?

Very nice... quite a bit more sophisticated than what this old guy uses. Thanks for sharing your finds!

Looking for some info regarding the new interop talkgroups for Jefferson County and Belmont County to WV. Does anyone know what Ohio talkgroup these are patched with or how this interop works? Being that Ohio is on 800 and SIRN is UHF, is the SIRN TGs assigned to a current daily operating Marc’s Talkgroup? I see that Belmont has a 800mhz talkgroup for TTF wondering if that’s patched with a SIRN and if so it by a switch or permanent patch? Just trying to learn something if anyone has info. Thanks
