I have an SDS 100 scanner and have been trying to figure out how I can turn on and off sites within a system using quick keys. I have a couple of systems setup in my scanner for the Tulsa area. Broken arrow and OKWIN specifically and both have multiple sites. I have OKWIN setup in my favorites as 0 and Broken Arrow setup for 1. I have been attempting to set the site quick keys each site. so far I have just been trying to get them to turn on or off. I can setup one site as 0 and another for 1, but i cannot get them to toggle. I do not know what I am missing to get this to work or if it needs to be setup as another favorite. any assistance is appreciated. thanks

Site quick keys function just like Department Keys so using @frazpo example, you would want to make sure you don't accidentally set any Department quick keys to 0 otherwise you'll turn on/off the department instead of the Site.

A suggestion made some time ago, by another member, was to use 0 to 60 for Department quick keys, and 61 to 99 for sites. If you follow a similar pattern, then you would not inadvertently turn off a Site when you intended to toggle a Department's quick key, or the reverse.

You can hold on the current Department via the Department soft key just below the display. If, instead, you wanted to hold on the Site currently being received, press the Function key, then the Department soft key. Don't delay pressing the soft key to hold the site. The Function is only active for a short time, a couple of seconds,

I agree with the above - my site quick keys are numbered 61 and higher (they are at the Department level).

So "Site" Quick Key 61 in System Quick Key 1 of Favorites List Quick Key 0 would require a keypress sequence of 0.1.61 e/Yes to toggle. The periods are required spacers in the sequence.

One thing to ask yourself is if the desired traffic is being carried on the site you are monitoring. If not, scanning that other site wastes time and you may miss something.

Conversely, the desired traffic may be carried on multiple sites. For example, my main Fire talkgroup is carried on both Site X and Site Y. So there is no reason to monitor them both when just one will do. (And with digital, signal strength usually isn't important because with digital, you either got it or you don't. A "low" strength sounds just as good as a "high" strength).
