Something funny going on. Are you hearing it too ?
.
I see the RID # 221#### coming up on Unitrunker.
This RID # could possibly be used for patches ?
For some reason Unitrunker is not showing any of the patch TGs 2030 to 2050 during these communications.
.
I am hearing wide open unencrypted communications when RID 221#### comes up. Both Control and members can be heard on one of the "encrypted" RCMP talkgroups.
Control and member RIDs do not show up on Unitrunker.
Both Control and the members are using encryption
.
It's almost like these communications are being decrypted and then this RID # rebroadcasts them unencrypted.
.
So why would they do this ?
.
Could they be testing a method to allow the media / public to listen in on some communications from time to time by enabling this RID to rebroadcast them in the clear.
They can then disable this RID when they want to go back to private communications.
.
I have not seen / heard the likes of this being done before.
.
It's great to be hearing them and I hope it will continue.
.
I have chosen not to post the full RID # or the talkgroup.
I know that they do snoop around here and may read this.
I don't want to make it too easy for them to "fix" this.
And yes I do know that PM's should always be used when sharing this kind of information.
.
Sorry if this post causes the hole to get plugged but I felt it was important to share this information publicly.
Maybe the RCMP feel the same way about letting the public hear some of their communications.
.
Cheers !
