A 20-year-old skier was killed Sunday after colliding with a tree at Summit County's Keystone ski area.
Summit County Coroner Joanne Richardson said Benjamin Hawk of Oregon was skiing with friends on the Spring Dipper run about 2 p.m. Sunday when he lost control and struck a tree. The run is rated for intermediate skiers.
Hawk was not wearing a helmet.
Richardson said Hawk was airlifted to St. Anthony's Central Hospital in Denver with severe head injuries. He was pronounced dead at 7:15 p.m. Sunday.
Keystone is located just east of of Dillon on U.S. Highway 6, about 60 miles west of Denver.
