Skip or patched?

In Howard County this morning on Pro-96 there were several short, stong encrypted signals on it. About the third xmsn glanced at the ID and it read Eastern Shore. What?
No way that far away! Freq was 866.9??? Would that be patched, a skip or incorrect ID?

Your question is vague. Is this a frequency you programmed into the scanner and tagged as "Eastern Shore" or are you using pre-programmed systems? Frequencies are used by numbers of different users. For instance, if you have the Baltimore County TRS in your scanner, you can effectively scan the Wicomico TRS with no further action. This is because all of the Wicomico frequencies are also used in the Baltimore County system. They are far enough apart that they don't cause problems with one another.

Please provide more information if you want a better answer.

PS- The frequency you gave -- 866.900 -- is licensed to the City of Baltimore, and is a part of their TRS, so this is probably what you heard. How you have it tagged as "Eastern Shore" is a mystery.

Never mind

Ocguard, thanks for the response. It was one of those stupid human tricks. Yes, I am using V-scanner pre-prog'd for our locality. Discovered the button for the next up V-scanner got punched in somehow and that's why I was getting that E. Shore, but it sure was a strong signal.
