I know we are about 80 miles away or so, but NYC regularly comes in here during the summer in Toms River. It is very entertaining to listen to. Dover Twp. fireground is on 154.19 here, and Staten Island regularly takes over my scanners without PL/DPL capability here in TR in the summer.

I'm a ham radio operator. I'm Southern MA. And I got to go into a repeater in NJ. I did not catch their callsigns and that sutff but I Know they where from NJ and then it died out. I just wanted to say that.

I might point out hearing 159.1800 in NYC isn't anything to write home about since they have a transmitter in New Burnswick and I think Newark too!

Hi guys,

Beachwood is only 48 miles from Linden which should give you a pretty good idea why NNJ and NYC come in all the time in that part of Ocean County. I used to listen to "home" on my BC-101 with an 18" whip from the motel on the mainland side of the Pelican Island bridge in Gilford Park. When you hear New England and the Canadian Maritimes like I was working on 2M at the time you'll have something to write home about. (;->)

Here are the locations for the Pike on 159.180Mhz.

1 - Fixed MTC DIST 1 NJ TPKE & NJ RT 322
HARRISON TOWNSHIP, NJ GLOUCESTER County 39-45-22.4 N, 075-16-10.7 W

2 - Fixed MTC DIST 2 NJ TPKE & MOUNT LAUREL RD
MOUNT LAUREL TWP, NJ BURLINGTON County 39-57-29.4 N, 074-55-02.6 W

3 - Fixed MTC DIST 3 NJ TPKE & WARD AVE
CHESTERFIELD TWP, NJ BURLINGTON County 40-09-18.4 N, 074-39-58.6 W

4 - Fixed NJ TPKE & NJ RT 18
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ MIDDLESEX County 40-28-31.4 N, 074-24-26.5 W

5 - Fixed INTERCHANGE 14A NJ TPKE & AVE E
JERSEY CITY, NJ HUDSON County 40-40-59.4 N, 074-05-56.5 W

6 - Fixed MTC DIST 6 NJ TPKE & SECAUCUS
SECAUCUS, NJ HUDSON County 40-46-25.4 N, 074-03-25.5 W

Wild, I was working Maryland too but didn't hear any activity from Cape May, that's always been a dead spot even when I lived in Eagleswood 30 miles north from Atlantic City. I could work New Castle County Delaware all the time but never even heard the repeaters in ACY. Now here's a hoot, the 448.075 repeater in Manahawkin is loud and clear from here but points south in NJ, forget it.

To borrow a lyric from the (Mount) Hollies, it's the time of the season for DXing. (;->)
