Well folks, its official. Skyline Fire will be taken over by Denver Fire on August 1st of this year. Their administrative staff will be there through the 15th of August.

So, does this mean Skyline's station will become a Denver station (?) or will the geographic area just fall into 24's and 22's areas, or do we know yet?

Interesting note, this is a 7 year agreement, at which time the unincorporated area has the option to go back to volunteer, Denver will collect $200K per year for fire protection, and the only thing that's city property is the vehicle. The station continues to be in unincorporated Arapahoe Co. As far as 24's getting the rig...that's up in the air. There's no real info where it's going to go yet, 24s was a lot of speculation in the beginning but now they're really not sure.

Heard part of the problem is Skyline recently aquired it with mostly grant funding.

Yes. They got their new rig with grant money and part of the grant specifies that it must be used in a front line capacity. So, we're going to have to use it front line in order to comply with the grant.

As far as the 7 years...I'm not sure why that was the agreement, it's so IF they decide they want out, they have a means. (Unlike a 99 yr agreement) The general feeling is it'll just go on after that. Only time will tell!

How many runs does Skyline make a year? 22's seems pretty busy and 24's moderately so. Would adding the rig into 24's make sense are or we talking possible replacement? Interesting stuff!
