Does anyone have a list of the amateur SKYWARN frequencies for our area of West Tennessee, North Mississippi, and Eastern Arkansas? These guys do great work during weather like we had last night and I enjoy listening to them. I'd like to listen to Eastern Arkansas and North Mississippi as it heads this way.
Thanks.

Volnet

At the bottom of that linked page is VOLNET freqs. I've heard a lot of traffic on 145.13 in addition to 146.82 when the weather gets really bad. The amateur station call at the weather service in Memphis is KC5SJW and they usually put info out on the SKYWARN freqs almost simultaneously if not before the local media gets the warnings. It is really interesting to listen to when there's a line of severe thunderstorms moving through the area.

For what it's worth I've been in Oxford, Mississippi during severe weather and heard nothing on the freq listed for Lafayette County, Mississippi.

A couple of other frequencies of interest when the weather gets bad is 155.895 and 154.995. Both are Shelby County EMA. One of those is shared with the Rangers at Shelby Farms.

146.820 W4BS repeater this is the link for all surrounding counties to the NWS in Memphis. Local spotters in Desoto Co. MS use 146.910 W5GWD repeater in Hernando. Middle TN uses the MTEARS UHF repeaters to link with NWS Nashville. They are listed at www.mtsh.org. Also for county lists do a search for ARES, that stands for the Amateur Radio Emergency Service. Hope this helps.
