Noticed some new listings on the database for some Skywarn Nets in the Bexar County area.

Not being from Texas originally, I can only deduce these are related to tornado tracking. Anybody confirm this for me, and explain the nuts and bolts of how this works?

Thanks in advance.

Skywarn is used for any warning (or maybe watch?) dealing with weather. You may want to check out the Saltgrass repeaters for Skywarn nets during storm bad weather. The Saltgrass repeater system is repeated throughout the Central/Southeast Texas area.

You can find more information on National Skywarn orSkywarn Texas

You can also find skywarn information on the NWS site located National Weather Service, Austin-San Antonio Office

Skywarn is basically a volunteer organization through the National Weather Service to train spotters and educate the public on every type of severe weather

If you are interested, there is also a statewide effort to organize local skywarn groups to assist those areas who do not have the coverage as the metro areas. Lone Star Storm Spotters Network
