SLED repeater tones

I've noticed that the SLED Columbia repeater is no longer using a tone during transmissions. During the squelch tail, my 96 shows a tone of 136.5 but does not show any tone during an actual transmission. I have not yet monitored the input frequency to determine its tone. The Columbia repeater is now Ch.30. Has anyone else noticed any changes among their frequencies?

If you're only occasionally seeing 136.5 as a tone, inconsistently, on the output, switch the channel mode to DC and search for a tone. That's usually a sign of a channel using a DPL, with is sometimes decoded by the PRO-92/96 as 136.5 in CT mode.

Yep the Disconnect tone will show as 136.5 PL.. or will bounce between say 127.3-and 136.5.... Its a great indicator of DPL.. Also listen closely you might here beep beep during key up.... or beep,.. beep beep

Just for Info SLED'S columbia tower is down right now. They are upgrading to digital encryption.

Non-encrypted traffic is being passed with DPL 413.

I have heard digital encryption on the same channel.

Is there any SLED traffic that i can hear in the charleston area? If so what are the freqs and pl tones? Also are they digital or analog?
