i hace been listening to Brunswick county law enforcement channel and it appears as though law enforcement witt soon be moved unto the new uhf ltr system for law. Everytime one of the deputies comes up on the current law enforement channel, dispatch chasties them for being on the old law channel. about the only officers left speaking on the "old law channel right now are the different cities who have their own PD's and soon i suppose they will be on new law soon enough. and maybe some day they will get the fire- rescue LTR system in brunswick county working properly and quit having it be a waste of money.

I monitor Brunswick and quite honestly I don't understand the new UHF/VHF system and how it works. What will the freq's be for the sheriff's department...and do I need to go through and add every single channel that's listed in the database under the system.

LTR is trunked. As long as it is not network LTR or Passport LTR, scanners can track it.
LTR is real easy to follow in conventional mode as well since users (talkgroups) always stay on a specific channel unless things get busy.
If it is simple LTR, channels in the system usually have a quick transmission burst every 10 seconds. A system can have 1-20 channels.
Starting place would be a FCC database search for Brunswick County licenses listed as YF.
You will find all the frequencies assigned to each site in the system. Then decide which sites you want to concentrate on.
No getting around having to monitor a whole bunch of frequencies to find out what actually is active if anything at the present time.

ok here's my stupid arsed question of the day but how do i get to the fcc database? oh yea i'll also need to get my granmother a scanner with at least 88 channels cause it looks like each ltr vhf/uhf have around 44 channels. hers is an old bearcat caplable of 40 channels so she'll wanna go cheap and get the 2018 most likely and since both of these are ltr standards i'll gladly agree cause if i mention scanning ne hanover county or anything she'll go crazy cause it might take away from her hearing Ron hewett on the radio

i dont hear keying up but i see data burst and it's been in ltr setup since i put the info in. one example was 1-27-128 and 1-07-001 is wgat i've been seeing on the third line but as far as home control channels your guess is as good as mine but i've been trying to get my grandmother to understand that technology has changed and her i want to say uniden 210 will not work it was produced back in 1985 and bought that year !! and it's been in a smoke filled house for about 20 years so god only knows how bad it is in that case it's sounds worse and worse evey year
