I have a join in my RG58 antenna cable in the house roof.
I have used SMA connections.
I am finding the female center connection is shrinking back from the pin on the male.
There is no tension on the cable, but it will get fairly warm up there.
Is this a common issue with these connections ?

That should never happen, especially with captive center pins. I suspect a low grade coax where the outer covering or dielectric is expanding with heat and pushing on the the connector. A captive pin should fix that or maybe a different brand of coax. Or the connector was assembled wrong and recessed and a slight bit of expansion pushes it over the edge.

Thanks.
It's most likely low grade cable then.
I've had this happen with a couple of premade cables.
I have got more connectors & a crimper but it's not an easy fix in a roof.
I prefer to solder the center connector.
I'm considering changing to RG6.
Would make things a whole lot easier & cheaper.
