Smart phone w/WIFI - need external antenna

OK all you smart phone users out there, this is some what off the radio topic, but should provide some interesting comments.

I am trying to find out if there is a smart phone available that will do WIFI and can have an external antenna attached to improve coverage. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

I'm not aware of any that can have an external wifi antenna connected as the wifi chip is usually an all in one chip bluetooth/FM radio/wifi. There are some that can connect to an external antenna for cellphone coverage.

There are quite a few companies offering cell to wifi connectivity with a virtual phone number for a few bucks a month. The cell essentially runs an ap that routes the calls VOIP thru your router. Where i've seen it used the most is to add coverage in areas where cell signals are weak or to save bucks routing calls over teh net to save cell minutes.

You can pair this with a good (DB Gain is NOT everything) antenna for your router and actually use your cell to route internet calls within a 1/4 mile or so of your router if you do it right.

I believe an htc touch model might do that...Not sure exactly which one though... some had wifi..and I know they had a connector for an antenna
