okay i was hearing today on fleetnet zone 1 at the guelph tower. police common TG and different agencies were calling other agencies for radio tests. now my question is how is the transmission transmitted over the long distance and be able to be heard on ALL towers? for example you have someone in Orillia radioing Guelph PD or vice versa. Is the actual radio signal being sent to the local fleetnet tower(i.e Guelph Main) and then that tower rebroadcasting it DIRECTLY to The orillia fleetnet tower? or does it travel to that tower and all others by different means?

Different means such as optical fiber, microwave or copper.

Towers communicate with each other via a switch using the means above.

I heard London Comm Centre testing with the Orillia Comm Centre earlier today. I heard the comm's via 1OPS33 while the London Comm Centre indicated they were on 1TAC06.
