Is the database for Smyrna in RR accurate? I was visiting a buddy of mine in Smyrna Thanksgiving and couldn't pick up anything. The database says the control channel is 868.4000 but during the time i was in Smyrna yesterday my scanner was locking on 867.575 So i manually navigated to 868.4000 and didn't hear any kind of control (buzzing) what so ever. I know how to program these things so i was just wondering if i was missing something. It's worked before so i can't figure out what was going on. I guess an appropriate question would be does the control channels change ever now and then? Thanks.

The database info is correct, I live in the city and listen daily.
They have rotated CC's sometimes but have not seen it recently.

For our system here in Nashville it's plan1 but i didn't know if Smyrna was different. I was again down there today and either they don't talk much or i am using the wrong "plan". I know everything is in there correctly.

Hi Corn. Smyrna is still on an analog system. That means that you'll be able to monitor this system with any trunking scanner, besides the digi-scanners. As for the CC only, plan 1 or 4 were the 2 choices I was told to use. Now it's been about 6 months since I last visited the Greater Nashville vicinity. As far as that concerns the public safety radio world, that could mean, "Lots of changes".

I use a 245XLt and also a 250d have not used CC mode though would be easier I guess need to reprogram the radios anyway

It's only 5 frequencies, put them all in. I program all the frequencies in since they do rotate it.

I found the answer

I did put all the frequencies in (due to CC rotation) but still use the CC only mode (in case they sneak in extra frequencies i don't know about). Saturday I took both my '96 and '296D to Smyrna and compared radios. For control channel only mode it is Plan 4 in the 296/250. While the 96 talked up a storm the 296 was dead in plans 1-3. On 4 it all was heard. Thanks for all the help and if anybody that has friends in high places might could confirm the airshow in June '05. It's scheduled then for the T-birds. I've never seen it in June and was wondering why the change.

I am also interested have not heard a peep here at work as I would have seen a plane scheduled for static display if there was one.
I live on a pennisula above the airport and can see the tower and light beacon with ease so I may not go this time around if it is to be.
May just set back and watch and listen from the home....

Usually the T-birds and Angels will send a "scout" plane around Jan or Feb to get things squared away before airshow season gets underway. Who knows? Smyrna does a real bad job at marketing the event as i only hear about it at least one to two weeks away. Now, the official team schedules are not out yet. I got the info from Shultz airshows website. The kicker is it states "not all sites have confirmed participation". So we'll see. I usually try to spend all day on Fri (the day before) around the airport to see what comes in. That is usually when the statics land.

That is true but the rumor mill is going about a possible return. The photos of the Blues (See Previous message link) at Smyrna were taken just a couple of days before the 9/11 Tragedy.
The Tbird Pics are from the Show at Arnold AFB.

Boy it will be loud here if they do show up. Its bad enough when they do engine runs at night from the civilian side.

Another thing to also remember is Smyrna had a major project going and has built a Term building and also a new access road to Murf Rd. plus new Gen aviation hangars going up accross field from where the shows use to be held.

I may make a call to the Airport Mgr office and inquire about it..

9/11 had everything to do with the show being cancelled back then because it happened the Tuesday before the show weekend. Now it does not. Airshows are happening across the country. Every year I look to the teams websites to find out about the shows. I never hear about Smyrna having one until i see the teams schedule. They do a bad job at promoting it. It will be confirmed when the teams schedule is out next month or February. The site that has it listed also states that each venue has not confirmed their participation. If their is one in Smyrna, as usual it will be held where it has always been, on the East side. The new terminal area now though would make it great for folks who can fly in. I guess we will see at the first of next year.

Very COOL! Now if I can just get some off time and proper directions...and iether proper cost, or a good place to park offsite.... I am gonna try to make as many airshows in the MS/TN/LA area as I can this year..... Especially since a lot of the info for military ops etc,... needs updated, and or confirmed
