Russ here.
271.1 did pop up in quick air to air comms whilst enroute out of Fort Mac. The 239.6 was actually 239.7 on my old Radio Shack base scanner when the Snowbirds were 10 miles north of Edmonton.
How do I know about 10 miles? 134.9 Edmonton Centre was clearing out the airspace for the Snowbird approach and explaining to civilian en-route pilots what they were visually siting off their flight decks. At about the same time, 239.7 popped up.
