Snowplow Operations Henrico County

Hi All,

I was hoping to monitor snowplow and salting operations in Henrico county, but I am hearing nothing of the sort on any of the Henrico Public Works TGs, nor even when I put my scanner into TG search mode. Should I assume that snow removal is on the now encrypted VDOT system? Seems to me that secondary and tertiary roads would be county. Do they contract those jobs out to private companies? Any insights appreciated!

I'll preface this by saying I haven't worked with any local snow plows since 2019, but at the time most of them were privately owned and operated under a contract with VDOT. I worked on the radio systems for two companies that had large fleets (more than 100 trucks each) and they covered a large geographical area. Both started out leasing airtime on a now defunct TRBO Capacity Plus system. One migrated to RCV's TRBO Connect Plus system (Radio Communications of Virginia (Connect Plus)) while the other went with a PTT over cellular solution (unmonitorable of course). Hopefully someone has more current information than me!
