Here is the finished product. Receiving 100%. Couldn't be more satisfied.

So now do you notice a big difference in reception? Do you get any interference from those lines above the antenna?

Yeah my trunk reception went from 70-80% and now locked on 99%. I don't notice any interference. Working better than it was in the attic.

If it was me, I'd get a 10' electrical conduit pipe, insert it into the end of the pipe that is holding the satellite, re-enforce the 10' conduit pipe where the wood trim is along the roof rafter by attaching a bracket for extra stability.
I would think you'd be pulling in signals from 50-70 miles away depending on the terrain.

I have my ST-2 mounted on a 10' conduit pipe to a satellite pipe, the conduit pipe slid right in like it was made for it! Now granted, I have the satellite pipe attached to my chimney by chimney mount brackets so my antenna is 12' above the peak of my metal roof.

Like others have said.....the higher, the better!

Great Results

I had a home-made copper tubing off-set dipole in attic. I just installed the ST2 on the roof and I can't get over how well it pulls in airband now. It's about 8' higher than the other one was in the attic but the difference is remarkable.

Is this the same antenna that Grove (Monitoring Times) sold before?

Knowing just how big that antenna is, I had one for a while before the CO front range winds finally managed to destroy it, I'd say that it is awfully close to the power line yet not as close the picture's compression makes it appear. I figure that eventually the antenna will start falling apart, unless the OP has done the reinforcement `mods', and there will be a lot more space between it and the power line as it was the top elements that went first on mine. (I happen to have a `spare' one that I reinforced but just haven't really had the urge to put it up as my current antennas are doing their jobs quite well.)

My antenna lost 3 of the 4 elements but it still works fine. It was reinforced but still the wind got to it eventually.

Can I use the ST-2 antenna to bring in VHF and UHF signals for my digital TV?

I have read this great thread in its entirety and have purchased the ST-2 for scanning my local emergency services etc. Can I also use this antenna to replace the TV antenna’s I am currently using, AntennaCraft 10-Element Channels 7-13 Yagi Antenna for VHF reception and Antennas Direct DB4E Antenna for UHF reception?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts………..

The St-2 is NOT directional like a Yagi; It will pick up signals in all directions, but it will not work as well as a Yagi pointed directly at the transmitter.

Thanks for your thoughts jonwienke, they are much appreciated. I am mounting the ST-2 antenna about 30-35 feet from the ground, using the pre-amp recommended (Electroline EDA-2400 4-Port Cable TV HDTV Signal Booster/Amplifier) earlier in the thread. I plan on pointing the antenna at the UHF tower generating those TV signals.

You guys running a preamp on this antenna must live out in the middle of nowhere lol. I have this wonderful antenna and if I don't turn the attenuation on I get all kinds of intermod noises etc. Can't imagine the interference I would get if I had a preamp.

My little tower I made for the roof of my work today, ST-2 on a 3' satellite tripod with a 10' stick of 1.25" conduit.

Nice! Hey I'm concerned that you don't have any support on the feet, a good wind may ruin your day!

Question, did that vertical arm that the ST2 is mounted on, that is in turn mounted to the conduit, come with your ST2?

st2 mount

Yes, the vertical bracket comes with the ST2 antenna. Most the them come with a 50' coil of RG6 cable, too. And, as for using it for tv signals, I found mine didn't work very well for that. But then, I had it vertical-mounted as its made to do, and I'm between 25-30miles from the tv transmitters in Birmingham.
