Various sources give a range from as little as 3dB to as much as 30 (or more) dB.... and it depends on the frequency. Higher losses at higher frequencies. Rather than get into all the variants and details, I wrote, "...3dB or more". In any case, mis-polarizing an antenna is not usually a desirable condition.

I think I might give up on that Yagi and try this antenna. It is back to sounding like crap and cutting in and out. Maybe it is a ground issue. I thought it was great and then it went down hill again.

tHE later ones are suppose to be more wind resistant. I wonder if this is true. Can you tell if this one is made better than the last one you had if you did have one?

I think I have figured this out... I saw the "original" ST2 from an old yellowed box, the metal used was way more thin than the current ST2's being produced. I think unless you are antique hunting, you find one of these weaker, thinner, older units... Even the box was a joke...

yES the box is a joke as it is falling apart. But that is the one I will be putting up which is my 4th or 5th one.

Amazon maybe but not E-bay. If I go on E-bay it would be for the Channel Master Antenna for items you can no longer get or are in production.

I've seen a few different vendors sell the ST2 at a reasonable price on eBay. They seemed to have good reviews... Then again, it is eBay, you just never know. I have scored lots of good stuff including radios, scanners, & antennas on eBay - some great home brew stuff to!

I've seen some early ST2s on eBay, but in other threads here today it was mentioned that the early ST2s are not as durable as the more recent ones.

As for buying from RS, as long as you GET it, it's a great deal. RS is ready to file for bankruptcy as soon as a few weeks from now.

tHIS IS true the old ones are not as strong. I have an old one. I will reinforce it as per instructions from this website but maybe I ought to get down to Radio Shack and get a stronger one.
