Ordered the part, NMP200, for my SDS200 to attempt to "cure" the noise problem that just started rearing
itself........
Well today this good size box arrives from Uniden. Wow. open box and on top is packing invoice with the
correct part number....start pulling out all the paper filler and much to my surprise I find a a rubber duck antenna terminated
in a BNC. After much consideration I came to the finding that this ain't going to work.
Called customer service and they can't explain it so they will ship out the right part this time. It will arrive in 5 days.
Maybe this time I'll get an SDS100, lol. And so it goes......

mmm... great testimonial there LOL . So, depending how new your radio is, the fifth number on the serial number on the back of the radio will give you the year of production, the mitigation device should already be installed. It is not a cure and in some cases barely works depending on if it shifted or not, was installed properly by the factory or oxidized.

Look up Paul's video telling you how to install it, take your radio apart and simply see if you already have it. Again it's not a cure. it mitigates which means you will still have the hum.

Look in the stickies under Uniden Tech forum for StaticDischarge permanent fix for the hum. Your only permanent solution.

I second the recommendation for StaticDischarge's fix.

My SDS200 does not have the noise, and never did, but if it were to crop up, SD's fix is the cure I'll use.
