Happen to be visiting Carlsbad (Along the coast by PAR) and I came across a system id of 492E on 868.4875. There's no doubt it's a UC Campus but which? The only choices I can think of are Irvine and Riverside. I can pick up other stuff from both those locations here so I can't nail it down. I get interference from UCSD so it's even more difficult.

Someone want to double-check the sys ids for UC Irvine and UC Riverside?

what did you mean by interference from UCSD? Same channel? How do you know the UCSD ID as listed is correct?

PAR? Palomar Airport Road?

do you recall what you changed on the San Onofre system?

Since the UC systems use common control channels and voice channels (though some such as UCSD have added a few more) 492E would often assign a channel that was used for say UCSD's control channel, and considering UCSD is a lot closer and propagates very well throughout SD it didn't quite work out. I can no longer receive 492E but I did get UCLA/6301 for a bit yesterday. I know UCSD's info is correct as I lived in SD for 20+ years and was a radio tech for a commercial radio company.

I changed SONGS' system id since it's no longer the 1FF9 version, and I also thought it had changed to Type II and mistakenly set it then set it back. I also marked a control channel. Just added another a few ago. Why do you ask?

Yes, PAR is Palomar Airport Road.

Ah, there you are. Interesting about that rogue ID.

In the time btwn your two updates, I assigned a license to the site, and there appears to be only one physical site. I couldn't tell if you labeled it Simulcast or it was an old change. It should probably be something else. Thoughts?

What brings ya' back down this way? Drive? Fly?

Drove down to visit the family for a bit and enjoy some humidity. 10-20% gets old fast.

I labeled it Simulcast (woops, forgot I did that too) as the system is using simulcasting or receiver voting. I'd bet on receiver voting since there is only one true transmitter, but sometimes it is hard to tell. The way to identify voting is by listening to the end of the voice transmission...there is like a click sound. This is the voter. I believe SONGS uses a DigiTAC by the sound. You can hear it on Orange County's network (analog stuff) but the click is cleaner and shorter (ASTROTAC voter). Anyhow, the callsign for the label seems best....I have no idea really. I always forget about the sub-site menu. I should have noted it there.

Ok, well, hopefully you aren't echoing the database and know those sysids are for sure. So then maybe I caught UC Santa Barbara. I'm 100% positive it was a UC Campus trunked system. Looking on a map it seems logical as it's pretty much ocean from there to Carlsbad. According to my mapping software I'm 171mi, about direct LOS, and the FCC says the ERP for UCSB is 214W; so it's possible. :?

Comments anyone? Sounds plausible to add to the database as I see nothing for UCSB.
