I provide a local rail feed, volume can vary wildly between the dispatcher and crews, I'd like to add some audio compression to even things out a bit. I've installed a virtual audio cable, and I tried the program Voice Shaper. I'm using a Griffin iMic usb audio interface to get the audio into the PC, however Voice Shaper for whatever reason can't get the audio from this input, it just gives an error message when I click the "Play" button that it can't access the audio device. Nothing else has access to this device. Perhaps this software can only access an input on a regular sound card?
I'm pretty sure I have it configured properly, my audio signal goes into Voice Shaper, then out the virtual audio cable input, then my broadcast software (scanner cast in my case) connects the virtual audio cable output. Correct?
Any other suggestions for compression software? Voice Shaper seemed pretty rudimentary. I'd be willing to pay a few bucks if it works well.
Thanks!
