Hello, I had a RS Pro-97 and it stopped working. I was within my 30 return policy so I exchanged it with the pro-2051. The guy told me that the interface cable that I used with my pro-97 would work with my pro-2051. Is there any good software for this scanner?

Thanks in advance for the help!

There ain't too much, that's for sure. Part of the problem is that although Uniden produced the scanner, GRE made the board and had input on the firmware, so Uniden protocols (like those for the BCT8, which I understand many folks tried - and failed) won't work. The only package I know of that *may* work is Scancat Lite Plus. I would also join the PRO2051 Yahoo group to see if anyone else has had success with software; joining the Scancat Yahoo group is also highly recommended, as Jim Springer can be found there.

The URLs for Scancat Lite Plus and the PRO2051 Yahoo group...

If you do buy SCL, ignore the offer for the freqs from Nat Comm (or whatever group is being used...) It's no more than a FCC data dump, and at least when I wrote the review for SCL some time ago, very inaccurate. Better to use the RRDB, post a question on the PRO2051 Yahoo group or join your local Yahoo scanning email list - lots of states now have 'em. Very handy.
